Here is a credenza I made during lock down from an idea I had in my head. Other than the hinges, I had everything on hand.
The box is maple ply, edge banded, then primed (3 coats), painted white, then clear coated.
The doors are from a single live edge slab of walnut, finished with Osmo oil.

Simple build. The box corners are mitered and the partitions set into dadaos. The only trickery is setting the inset doors back 3/4 of an inch.

I like the creativity of this design. A nice improvement on a console.

I agree w pottz, what a great way to use a slab. And i like the mix of straight, clean white with the organic sapwood edge.

Thank you. I’d seen a little of this, a little of that, But I’m pretty sure this is a one-of-a-kind

This is a really strikingly beautiful work. Love the doors most of all. I’m jealous for that slab of walnut.

I am pretty tired of live edge tables and such but you finally came up with a new way (to me anyway) to use a live edge slab that adds a new level of interest to something that could be otherwise a little boring. Well done.

Lazyman pretty much stole the words out of my mouth regarding live edge builds. What works for me in this instance is the originality of the application and the visual tension between stark angularity and modernity of the cabinet and irregularity of doors.
