I have been in dire need of a bench stool forever. Sharpening saws in the vise on one knee has been torturous. This is based on a bench stool design from Paul Sellers. It is made from the cheapest pine framing 2×4s you can buy at Lowe’s. Total cost of materials was around $18. It only took me a couple of weekends to make and it is the perfect height for my bench, and of course it is custom made for my bottom, so incredibly comfortable. The bench seat was carved out with a gouge. Everything is by hand, I don’t own any power tools. It is finished with a couple of coats of shellac and wax. Thanks for looking.

Very nice work! You are just the guy I would like to talk to about the angles for your legs. I am currently building a bench style stool and any feedback wood be great. Once again Nice job on your stool!

I used a 4×4 piece of plywood to lay out the angle of the legs based on their exact size. I locked the angle in with a bevel and then used that angle for the tenons of the stool rails.
