Laptop stand...stand.

My wife is a teacher and she is working remotely, broadcasting from her classroom to students at home. She was using a couple of dictionaries to raise her Macbook to a height where the camera would catch her whole whiteboard and such. And I said, “pshh..I can do better than that!” So with some walnut flooring pieces I had lying around I made this little box with a drawer. Problem was when I cut back the veneer to make the drawer “face” it was really thin and brittle and maybe might have cracked a little when I dropped it during assembly. So that’s why I hastily put that epoxy grid on there, to sort of hold the veneer edges with a little more structure. I wish I’d centered the hole a bit better, but whatever. It works.

I like it. Simple, but fuctional.

-- Joel, People ask what I make. I tell them I make sawdust, and now and then a nice box or frame,or clock, or lamp pops out.

As I get older, I have a better appreciation for ergonomics in everything I do. Your wife will definitely appreciate the stand. Looks real nice to me, great project!

Practical, economical and functional – the first attempt doesn’t have be a masterpiece. The next one may very well be…
