I’d like to start by apologizing up front for the remedial attempt at woodwork. I’m positive I was one of hundreds to stumble into your world this year. The lockdown left many of us with idle hands, empty pockets, and little hope. The resulting wave of “Oooh look at THIS one, babe!” guys from Pinterest swarmed in I’m sure.

Many likely looked at all of the amazing content and talent here and quickly decided to stick to looking at pictures on their phones. I however couldn’t resist. Marveling at the works of greater men has always made me want to toss my hat into the ring.

Personally I came to learn about remodeling from anyone knowledgeable and generous enough to share their wisdom. In February, my wife and I moved out of the metro and bough a hundred plus year old home in a farming community.

Needless to say it came with a daunting amount of required TLC. A week or so in, I decided to try and cheer my exhausted wife up with a cute little dust collector for our new shelves. Moving ourselves and the kids during a nationwide lockdown was stressful, but didn’t hold a candle to the problems we were facing with our new investment.

The result was underwhelming to say the least, but she loved it, and quickly threw some acrylic paint at the poor thing to make it stomachable.

I’m positive I’m not the only one to LARP my way into your hobby in the last 6 months. Hopefully my next try is something worth the spot I’m occupying here. I knew if I threw this garbage out there for the world to get a sensible chuckle out of, it would force me to attempt something else. I don’t expect to be a master Cooper tomorrow, but it’s nearly impossible for me to fail to top this little fella. I must say for sure though it’s impossible for me to see all of you creating excellence and not try to catch lightning in a bottle at least once myself.

Thanks to all of you LJs for creating the interest as well as the inspiration! Until next time…

Thank you Mooseman! I’ve got some things in the works that look like they actually belong here now. Slowly by surely I’ll step my game up until I’m up to snuff.

Nice beginning. I can guarantee that all of us have humble beginnings. No one is born knowing wood working. Keep working through the learning curve and you will be rewarded.
