Project Information

This year has been about change. My youngest got married in August making me an empty nester. A month later my Mother in Law moved in, needing help due to health issues. Because the Lord has seen to bless me with plenty of capacity, we were able to move her in without too many issues. Fortunately, he has also blessed me with a wonderful wife (of 31 years) who doesn't mind that her car only sees the inside of a garage 3 months out of the year.
Having a third person in the house has increased my throughput, but this was a project for the love of my life.
It's The very first Jewelry box, I've made. Life and circumstances have limited my woodworking to large objects like Dressers and Hope Chests and Jigs and Workbenches. My wife expressed the desire for a Jewelry Box. It did not look like this in my head and had a decidedly more Asian feel to it, but then my vision of it was beyond my capabilities for now and involved shaping wood. But, it still turned out great and she loves it. Wood is Paduak and Walnut. Finish is Spray on Lacquer.

Change is good - a child leaving the nest, helping an aging parent, modifying that design in your head - to stop changing is to stop living. Great job, thanks for posting
