Wire strung Irish harp with 26 strings. I will post a sound sample once it gets up to tune (somehow). I did all the brass work on the instrument as well. The tuning pegs are about the only thing I didn’t make myself. The design is based on a low headed Clairseach or medieval Irish wire strung harp

piecing together the soundbox

alignment dowels made this a lot easier

the projecting block was attached with a blind lap dovetail

the major components

the worst part was adding these brass horseshoes

the pillar decorated and shaped

the brass cheek bands are one of my favorite parts but they are kind of tedious

Looks beautiful, yes I think we would like to hear it.
Years ago my dad built a delcemer, string instruments are very nice

wow thats pretty damn cool,i think your the first person ive seen make a harp,cant wait to hear it.

Nice! people sometimes say the wire strung harp sounds a little like a hammered dulcimer

That is neat AG’. Will you be carving “the pattern”?

Robin Hood would have gone ape with one of those as a bow substitute in Sherwood.
