Hi All,
Some of you may know that we have sold our Place of 16 years here in Hong Kong and along with it went the Tiny but Famous and well organised Woodshop. With Covid and the uncertainty of the Airline industry the changing environment here in Hong Kong it has been necessary to reduce our foot print here. We have moved into our small but bright 10th floor 750 sq foot apartment so its not all bad news the view is great see pic below.

Anyways to cut a long story short I said to Lovie I want to do one last project in the shop, it had to be simple as we were running out of time. I thought “MINI BAR”, what could be better for our flat. we can take the happy hour bell (its project seen here) and wall mounted bottle holder (its project seen here) and create a little Bar space in our new place.

A quick build , 12 mm ply , some Ash and Oak, some walnut dowel type supports to give it some depth, a small branding on the left corner. To dress it up I found some round head brass screws that I used for the ends. Strong enough that I simply anchored it to the wall with six screws.

Below is some pics of the construction, The last build in the blue house workshop . The last pic is a live view from my desk in the new place as I was typing up this blog.

So as they say , its always 5 o clock somewhere. Lovie rings the bell often which is great.

Thanks for reading.
Literally Cheers
Anthony

Anthony, nice build – the brass screws really dress it up and the black support rods, great touch. Our wine bar is not as attractive but it ‘opens’ every day at 4PM EST.

For me Anthony that’s one good looking shelving unit as in our house their’d be nothing to put on it like yours.

I have to agree it does look nice and the brass adds a nice embellishment.

Its not a “bit too Close” the cupboard doors is it?

Yer Rob the upper cupboard door doesn’t fully open , Hence MINI Bar, we struggled for space for it.
Mate thanks for your help on the Farm this week down there, Nice work.

Welcome back to the world of the flightless antman.

You may have to disinfect this comment as I still live in Victoria…

Great to see the alcohol theme continue in the next residence… and if Lovie rings the bell, you should buy her a 5 minute timer.

You should have put a couple of dog holes in the base of that mini….

  1. Let spills drip out.
  2. Hold bottles upside down to save uncorking… extension to the bottle holder… like clamps… you can’t have enough.
  3. Mini workbench in a pinch... pinch is what I call a shortage of alcohol.

I was going to say something about the new laws in HK, however, I won’t as you could get arrested for just reading it.

-- If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Anth,

Been thinking of you two and wondering where you had gotten off to!

Great looking project and seems like an appropriate way to end that shop. Ring the Bell Cheryl!!!

Are you flying again? You’ve always got a place to crash if you get over here and don’t worry about bringing a guitar! I’ll let you borrow one of mine!!!

Great project, looks simple but elegant, and serves it’s purpose in a small space.

Awesome work Anthony! Love how nice and neat everything looks. Even the stools, the amazing view out the window and pic #5 with Lovie all look fantastic!
When I left our 2nd to last house in Franklin MA I cried it was hard leaving the dream shop I built there! But we move one as always! Good luck with your move!

Nice work, Anth! Sorry you’ll lose your shop, but perhaps you can find a space to do some work once things settle down a bit, and as you say, the new digs have a lovely view.
