I finished another woodworking project, a 3-D chessboard! It was a fun learning experience making it. Do you think you would enjoy playing a game of chess, or checkers for that matter on this 3-D board?

I have a hard enough time with the game as it is. I don’t now. Another thing to think about in a game that I have trouble think through already! Looks great though.

Star Trek 3D one is actually a thing. It must be hard though.

I love these 3D sets. I wouldn’t be likely to play on it because, well…. squirrel! But, my grandfather loves checkers and I have contemplated making him a board like this. I’m just not sure it would be easy enough to move checkers around on a non-flat board?

My thoughts exactly. Extremely cool concept, but the game fries my brain in two dimensions…I can’t imagine three…
It’d be like playing chess with Maurits C Escher! ; )

Do you mean the squares are glued permanently? If yes, then some repainting is in order! :) Looks great though!

Harem,

WOW, thanks for pointing out my error. I must of turned around the third row on the left side of the board when I was doing the glue up.
