This table is a 72×32 ash table with a 3×3 base. We had a limited space to work with to put this table, so dimensions are a little smaller than what has been built previously. The customer wanted a dark stain on all pieces, so we constructed the base from ash as well. All together, it was a solid build that will last for many years to come.

Its about 110 BF of 8/4 ash in all, coated with a transtint dyed shellac and Mohawk conversion varnish (catalyzed). My Fuji HVLP unit made quick work of it and the client was quite pleased all in all. The bonus on delivery—I was able to fit all components of the table in the bed of my mid-size pickup.

Very nice work.

However in all honesty the seats are going to be uncomfortable because of the sharp edges. A 1/2” roundover will make the benches more comfortable to sit more than a few minutes. Likewise with the table lip. Sit with your forearms on the edge and you’ll wish for some sort of edge relief.

Don’t feel bad. Frank Lloyd Wright designed chairs that were beautiful but unsitable.

Nicely executed job tho.

That’s exactly the kind of Picnic table I would build if I had a place for it. I hate the idea fo fixed seats. Your moveable benches are perfect.
