I worked at a woodshop on base here in Gagetown for about 8 months recovering from an injury. The Tactics School commandant was posted and wanted to present a gift to the school. He came to see me one day and wanted something quite boring. We chatted a bit and brainstormed. I got the idea of a sword and shield. He liked it so this is what I came up with.

A life size shield and a replica of the hand and a half sword found on many of our unit crests.

They are made of maple and walnut. The shield is meant to be hung like a plaque. The sword slides in behind the shield when it is hung. The shield looks flat in the photos but it is actually curved.

The Tactics School crest was 3d printed and screwed on the shield.

Pretty proud of this one as I had only been woodworking for a few years back then.

Looks like nice workmanship and design, a great plaque for display but intimidating enough for dark alley encounters 8^)

Very nice! Is that brass overlay on the shield points? Thanks for your service. And thanks for sharing.
