Project Information

This piece of Mora started out to be a small bowl for storing things in. It has some beautiful looking grain so I thought I would turn it into a box. I found a scrap piece of figured Africian mahogany and glued on a thin piece of Maple burl and turned it so the burl was the center of the top. I ended up liking it. 4 1/2'' dia. x 3 1/2'' h. My neighbors are nice people and are expecting their first child next week so I think I'll give it to them.
Thanks for looking.

Beautiful work Dave! Love that nice grain! The top reminds me of a flying saucer! Are you sure you don't have one captured in that box! Just kidding as usual!

Slick, maybe a good place for the new parents to store the reserve of pacifiers, or not.

Nice thing, Dave! For some reason it makes me think of a Devo Energy Dome (which were really just flower pots), but with much prettier grain.

Are we not men?

Thanks Jim and Ken.

Thanks Lee. I'm hoping to give it to them today.

Thanks John and Splintergroup.

Thanks Tony. Maybe that will give me some good practice when I make that flying saucer soon. If there was one inside the box I would set them free, they're my friends you know. LOL.

Thanks Rich1955. I have some niece pieces of burl around but I hate to waste even the smallest piece. So today it said it wanted to be part of a lid.

Thanks Ivan.

Brian, that idea could be a reality. I'll mention it to them. LOL.

Thanks Mark.

Hi Dave, I looked energy dome up. Maybe it can be a freedom dome? hahaha

Thanks Dick. I'm sure they're be happy to receive it. I guess it'd always the thought.
