The top is solid curly Maple (fiddleback), book-matched with American Walnut sides. I used a 45° ‘V’ router bit to miter the corners. Instead of cutting the wood using a table saw, the 45° router bit gave me a lot better miter with less wood lost. The box is 8 11/16×61/2×4 3/8. . Finished with three coats of M. L. Campbell Satin Krystal which is post-catalyzed conversion varnish finishing system which is Water white and non-yellowing.

Nice box! I’ve thought of using a 45 degree V-bit on my router table, but I never really figured out how to do the alignment. Are you “burying” the bit in a split fence with the height adjusted so that the highest point of the bit above the table that emerges from the fence corresponds to the thickness of your stock?
Also, where are you sourcing the music movements?
