This is a hand crafted chess set. The design was inspired by French artist Yves Tanguy who created his well-known design in the late 1930s. These pieces are intended to fit on the regulation size, chess board that I made with 2” x 2” squares.
These are weighted chess pieces, the 3 ¼” King has a base diameter of 1 5/8”. All chess pieces are weighted by adding lead weights within the base. Each of the chess pieces has a green felt on its base. The dark chess pieces are made of American Black Walnut (Juglandaceae) and the lighter chess pieces are made from Maple (disambiguation).

The finish on the chess pieces is Cyanoacrylate (CA or Super Glue) there is a minimum of 5 costs of Cyanoacrylate on each piece. Then they are sanded to 2000 grit then polished using rubbing compound and finally polished with white polish compound.
