This side table is made from pine, but finished with Mohawks dark walnut lacquer toner. It’s designed to stand next to a sofa (or recliner), where the top hangs over the armrest of the furniture. It uses bridle joinery for the top, and stand, and is rock solid. Now my wife wants one like it, but a little bigger so a laptop fits better.

Very nice, indeed….I made one of those several years ago for my aged mother-in-law. Works similar to yours, but a little different. She’s 86 and not very mobile, so it fit the bill for her. That’s the only one I’ve ever made, but she still enjoys the ‘puter, so I made her a lap desk to set her ‘puter on…She has about wore both out….:)
