This turning is 12” in diameter made from soft maple. The inspiration for this design came from Karl Hansen’s wood turnings.

I’ve done some segmented turnings but yours are amazing. Very good work.

Thank you all for your comments. This is not a segmented piece. The design is accomplished by burning lines and coloring with ink markers.

Crazy wonderful Julian.

Do you keep track of hours?

What do you use to keep the lines straight, or you just going by eye?

I don’t keep track of the time I put into any project.
I made a jig to hold the pyrography pen which keeps the lines straight.

Awesome, as usual, is all I have to say. I don’t think that I will live long enough to do something this nice.

Thinking of the time and patience it took to make this just stresses me out. Therefore I hate it. But I actually love it. I hate that I love it.
Well done.

Lovely work Julian, it’s easy to forget there’s a nice bowl under all that work. Does the turning have to stay perfectly round for this to work out well?
