I made this maple and walnut box as a gift for my double Purpleheart recipient father-in-law. I wanted to add a detail that would mean something to him. He is a big fan of a 1911 pistol so I made a custom handle from a couple of 45 ACP cases and a brass rod.

Video Here of the process if anyone is interested.

Nice! The video was cool, (quick and well edited so everyone should watch it) like how you did the handle too.

-- Im so impressed with what people can do, and I wonder how they do it. Thats what keeps me doing it.

Slick Build!
I really like the treatment of the legs, cool feature. And of course the bullets for the posts of the pull is another cool feature. Sure your F.I.L. is very happy with this gift of a box.

Lots of nice touches there! The shell cases are a clever trick for handle posts.

Nice build. A lot of touches together that pushed it to greatness. Pretty sure your FIL will like it. Tell him Thanks for his service, sounds like his wasn’t a cakewalk if he was awarded double purple.

Loved the build vid, looks like your playground has other nice flicks.
