Over a decade ago I purchased some exotic hardwoods and at the time I had some grand ideas. Unfortunately, when it came down to cutting a $50+ board I just couldn’t commit to a project enough to do it. Well, I guess it took a quarantine and a lack of lumber to get me to pull the trigger. The result was this leopard wood box with walnut accents. I had a small scrap of walnut burl that was made into a veneer for the top. This was my first box and I’m really pleased how it turned out. I made a video of the build if anyone is interested.

Funny, I was probably with you when you picked up that leopard wood. There’s still wood from that trip I haven’t used.

Love that box…it’s absolutely gorgeous. I’m looking forward to seeing who wins it!

I love the leopard wood and have something similar…and have been hesitant to cut into it.

Wonderful work. I watched your video and enjoyed it. I especially liked the inverted (?) use of the spring clamps while gluing in the tray supports, and the sheet metal sanding guard.

You did not fail by cutting up your stash! Nice execution and wood combo, the walnut lid really caps it all off.

Thanks. I’m going to make a video of some of my tricks that I’ve never seen before.
