Only a simple little project today.

I got sick of the globe kicking around and made this quick shelf.

Supports are maple. Outside shaped by bandsaw, inside by hand coping.

The real innovation I wanted to try out is instead of driving the screws straight in (which never ends well) I ran them in at 45 degrees sideways. This should give tremendously more holding power without resorting to hard-to-paint-over screw inserts.

Maybe I’m just being naïve, but sure it seems like it should do it.

Oh well. It will be interesting to see how well it hold up over time. ;)
