A buddy of mine gave me some Walnut Cut-Offs so I decided to make a Joiner’s Mallet. It was intended to be just a basic mallet that I would actually use but the end product seems to nice to beat on things with… so it’ll be a wall hanger for now. The outer layers are walnut with a hackberry inlay. The inner layer is honey locust and the handle is cedar. This project is the first inlay that I have ever done and I am pretty happy with the result. The smaller mallet I made for my son (5 Yrs) with the scraps from my build. That one has actually see use… lol.

That’s a beauty. It’s gonna make it hard to whack stuff with such a pretty mallet though.

I definitely agree! I think this one will be a wall hanger. I think I will make a couple more not so pretty ones for use and abuse.

Have your say...
