This is a Krenov-style smoothing plane with a hard maple body, padauk sole, mahogany sides, and oak wedge. I used a 2-1/8” Hock plane iron. It is a single-iron plane, meaning it doesn’t have a chip breaker. The iron is 3/8” thick. I tested it without having tuned up the iron, and as you can see from the photos, it takes a nicely curled shaving.

Nice plane. Pretty much anything wrapped around one of Ron’s blades is a winner. What bed angle are you working at?

therealSteveN: Bed angle is 45 deg.

Pheroz: I haven’t measured the thickness of the shavings. As I said, I have not yet tuned the blade, so whatever the thickness is now will only get better.
