Let me start by giving Andy credit for the inspiration for this box. While it was never meant to be an Art Box, I did utilize his idea of wood combination for this one.
The body is Lacewood with Maple splines. The feet are Maple with a Walnut inset. The top is Brazilian Rosewood with Hickory. The lifting handle is Brazilian Rosewood. The inside bottom has a leather liner.
I went back and forth on adding trays, but decided to go with just a box that could be used for whatever as I could visualize a dozen different uses for it and trays add limits to it that I felt I didn’t want to do.
Any, I hope you like.

Lacewood has such fantastic character. Kinda reminds me of the surface of the sun. Nice wrap-around grain match. I also like the rounded mitre corners, adds a softer tone overall.

That is a good looking box. I like the splines and feet. Great finish too.

Beautiful!
I wish you had a way to do high dynamic range pictures, the top center wood looks like it has wonderful colors but alas you can’t easily get it to show nicely without blowing out the rest of the box colors with standard photos.
Nice job!

It’s where you take multiple photos without moving the camera, each photo is at a different exposure.
For example, you see it a lot in magazine photos of landscapes, nighttime shots where you see the full moon in all its detail and yet the mountains and foreground are all detailed as well. Each object is taken from the photo with the correct exposure and all are combined into the same picture. Without doing this, the above example would have the moon looking like a solid white blob, or a detailed moon with nothing but black all around.
It used to be you needed photoshop to do the work, then someone made a cheap piece of software to automate it. Now it seems some phone cameras will do it automagically now-a-days.
Anyhoo, the box looks smooth as butter!
