As this one was progressing, my wife kept saying it reminded her of the Tim Burton movie: Nightmare Before Christmas. So I will call this one “The Nightmare on Walnut Street.”

Box interior dimensions are: 12cm X 7.5cm X 4cm deep.

Made of european walnut and maple.
3 X linseed oil finish.
I should wax and buff also, but I am dreading buffing this one, and some of you with experience may understand why.
Lined with plush velvet.

Thanks for viewing

Have a great day!

Angry Armadillo – Picture 4 is the dillo on the hunt for grubs and just about to dive into the earth for dinner.
Sorry for the imaginary rhetoric but I see a critter and some very extreme wood crafting ending with a fine example of vision and execution.
Outstanding Brian, this could be your most imaginary and I can’t see it on your mantle for very long

From the front he looks grimace-y. From the back, frown-y.

That’s quite the box, Brian. Not sure what else to say about it, but it sure is something!

I see visions of a ant eater in pic 4. Very much thinking out of the box. Nice work. It’s more like a daydream than a nightmare.

I love looking at these Brian, a different perspective from everyone. I see a large version of those burrs that cling to my socks after walking through the back yard 8^)

A museum quality piece of modern art!

A DOUBLE AA; because iot also has a fine purpose and you used wood that would otherwise become waste!

All of that means FANTASTIC BOX!

Wow!
Very whimsical and I can see the Tim Burton reference!
I like it and it is very organic. Really cool shaping and the choice of woods is great.
There’s a lot of cool detail in this piece Brian.
I agree…
PHANTASTIC BOX!

That is really a cool looking box. Can see the reference to Nightmare but more so see Beetlejuice..

Dick nailed it, that is a Dillo box, but from either direction it appears to be coming at ya. It is indeed different.

I do like the feets.

Its a good one Brian, maybe one of your best.
How long did it take to complete it?
