Another Covid-19 honey-do, and the last one today (I promise). My lovely bride of 50+yrs asked for a blanket ladder she saw on one of her on-line decorating forays to hang her blankets in the living room corner, nothing fancy – plain and simple, rustic is OK.

The ladder measures about 7’ tall and 20” wide made with 2×3 hem/fir studs and 1 3/8” laminated closet rod from our local Home Dump, that’s all. The rails were drilled with 1” through holes spaced at 14”. The rungs were tenoned to a 1” diameter with the table saw and glued and splined in place. Sanding was minimal (just to remove snagging splinters) and stained/finished with a dark walnut Watco oil. I told you rustic is OK.

Added some non-slip tape to the beveled footing and VOILA!

Wife added some blankets and seasonal accessories. She’s happy and I am happy.

Nice! I’ve been thinking of making my self one of these. The closet rod is a good idea.

Have your say...
