My daughter needed a pencil holder to sit on the piano and our house is very mid-century so I came up with this design. Maybe my first original.
Made of cherry, walnut, and toothpicks as tiny dowel pins in the legs.
Thanks for looking

I like that; I think it looks really cool. I’d be curious to hear more about how you made it.

Good design. And I like the creativity of using toothpicks as dowels.

I would be very proud if I had made that.

Great job.

That’s without a doubt the nicest pencil holder I’ve ever seen. The slanted diamond top is very appealing.

Extremely elequote design – The wood color matching and dowels are ingenious.

How did you manage to hog out the inner hole ?

To Pheroz it was serendipitous, IT was supposed to be one solid chunk and I jogged it out with a bit and brace but half way down it was shifting off to one side. I had a bit of cherry left so I decided to cut it in half add a bottom piece and in a “can’t fix it feature it” mantra I added the walnut strip in the middle. After the hole was set I put it on a 45* jog and cut the swoop on the band saw. Then used a router jig to cut the leg reliefs and glued them in with toothpicks for dowels.
Thanks
