Walnut / maple / cherry, I made this with scrap pieces of maple next time I will make sure all the maple comes from the same board so I won’t get different colors

Ah now, and here I was just thinking how extra delightful this board was with the color variations it has, and you have to think it less than it is. <sets> I too have criticized the most beautiful work I did to date (it was an inexpensive Butsudan). Realizing what I was doing, after I was finished with it, I refused to look directly at it for 3 days. After that I went looking for those things I was criticizing, and sure enough, I had to SEARCH to find them even knowing where they were. And it was Phhht, nothing I would worry about or even notice if I paid someone else for their work.

The moral? Don’t give yourself short shrift since you are NOT the final judge once the project is completed.

WELL done !!

That’s a fine-looking houndstooth pattern. Very well done! Did you make a log then slice it up?
