This is the first in a series of drawer boxes I am intending to build. I took the easy way out for the drawer slide, and only used one on the bottom; and added a stop strip topwise that prevents the drawer from falling out of carcass when the drawer is opened fully. To affix the drawer-front, I hid the screws in the channel for the handle, then glued in the handle. I also glued the front to the drawer.

Dimensions: 20cm X 14cm; with 4cm of drawer depth.

Woods used:
Wild olive: sides
Zebrano: Box, and details
Poplar: box back
Honduran cedar: drawer liner

Drawer bottom is lined with plush velvet.
Finish: oiled and waxed.

Thanks for viewing.

And have a great day, ya all!

quite a change from your usual elegant sophisticated offerings but still unique in it’s own way

Very well-done Brian. I love how you have an eye for working with the character of different woods and building a design that flows with the organic characteristics. I’m guilty of conceiving my designs first and trying to force the wood to conform to it which often results in something far less elegant. Kudos my friend!

Nice work Brian. Boxes aren’t just 4 sides with top and bottom. Changing the character of something brings out the best in our abilities.

I really appreciate this one Brian!

The wood character has the fine detail which is perfect for something of this size. Added kudos for going organic, that’s a path I’m too chicken to venture down yet 8^)
