Some may remember the bench i built a couple years ago. Last year i started on a set of drawers to fit inside it. It quickly got put on the back burner partially built for almost a year. Been out of work for a month due to covid-19 even though im considered essential, well, that has left a lot of time to play in the shop. Finally got tired of seeing the half built carcass sitting on top of the bench and got to work on it again, and finally finished it up today. The carcass is salvaged oak flooring, the drawer bodies were built with different scraps i had, the faces are cherry, and the pulls are from some leftover mahogany from the bench top. I hope my fellow lumberjocks re doing well during this time, stay safe, and take advantage, spend time with the family, and in the shop, stay safe my friends, and as always, thanks for looking.

The tool box looks great. I love all the shallow drawers. It’s a nice complement to your terrific workbench.

So much storage right where you need it. Nice job. What is the interior depth? I was wondering if you could get hand planes in them?

well, to me it looks like an ad for a work bench with built in drawers in a high end tool catalog. Both are a stunning example of craftsmanship

Thanks so much everyone, therealSteveN, the bottom 2 are theoretically deep enough, but planes take up too much space for a drawer for me, mine are on top of the case. The drawers are 12.5”x19 I.D.

The drawers are a nice addition to a great looking work bench. They finish out the bench.

I want to make something like you have….some day…..

Thanks EarlS, to be honest, the hardest part was getting started, it was mentally daunting as i am over analytical, once i got out of my own head, it all kinda flowed along, i do recommend at least glanceing through a couple of chris swartz’s workbench books, good visual ideas in there.

I love your drawers! Wait…that just doesn’t sound right. Well, anyway, I’ve been considering doing the same, since the two-drawer file cabinets I bought don’t really lend themselves well to proper tool storage. Now I just have to sneak over to the store that sells BB Ply.

Thanks Dark_lightning, i condidered ply, but since its not a show piece or commission, i made the frames from scraps of various hardwoods, and faced them with 2 cherry boards i had on hand.
