My brother built the downdraft table form Rockler plans. The plans call for the inserts Rockler sell for about $50 a pair and the table was designed to hold four of the inserts
He also uses the old Critt/Meyer clamping system while sanding on the table. Some things he doesn’t like about the Rockler inserts are the rubber spacers which cause small pieces to rock while sanding, and inserts don’t have the correct spacing or hole size for his Critt/Meyer components.
So to satisfy those requirements I designed an insert that not only fits into the table but also allows him to use his Criit/Myers vise components. And, for a cost of about $10 for some 3/4” MDF and 30 minutes on my Shopbot, he is now a happy dust maker.

i made a downdraft table using those same panels,i didn’t like it,just didn’t seem to collect enough dust to make it worth while.you did a good job solving his problem.
