I’ve been thinking about making a Moxon vise for a while, so I finally made one about a month ago. With our shelter in place I’ve been doing a lot of woodworking and use it often. Since my shop is my garage, where I need to put things away every night, I don’t have room for a permanent heavy bench with a built in woodworker’s vise. The Moxon is the perfect solution. I can clamp it anywhere. Once you have it, you’ll wonder how you ever got along without one.

The Bench Crafted is a popular kit for the hardware, and I’m sure it’s a good choice from what I’ve read. I opted for a less expensive option from Taylor Toolworks, and I’ve been very happy with it. My only complaint is that the leather included in the kit is too small to fit a nice sized vise, so I ordered an inexpensive piece of leather after I built it. I think it makes a big difference in ease of gripping. Here’s the link for the hardware kit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084HKDK4S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I added a small shelf attached to the rear jaw, since I read that it can come in handy for various tasks. I drilled holes for bench dogs in both the shelf and front jaw, and I’ve already used that feature because it allows you to clamp wider pieces. Cheers, Tim

Very Nice Vise! I also just recently built a moxon vise using my new wood threader. https://bealltool.com/products/threading/threaders.php

Either way your vise looks very nice and will last for generations!
