After looking for a new bed a few years ago and couldn’t find what we wanted. Since we have an adjustable frame sleep number bed this just basically sits around the metal bedframe. I designed and put this bed together for my wife and I from red oak with oak plywood for the side rails.

The legs are put together with lock miters and a piece in the center to secure the finials to. The headboard and footboard are typical raised panel construction and I drew the radius for the headboard until my wife aproved. The ends of rails are left long and mortise and tenon joints fit them to the legs. Typical bed fastners hold the side rails to the headboard and footboard so if we do need to add stretchers in the future and put a normal boxspring and mattress it’ll work just fine.

Looks really nice. Great to be able to build what you want.
