Two Birch fruit/salad bowls. A friend noticed the different colouring in this wood and sent me a couple blocks. Normally it is a uniform lighter colour. The rough turnings had dried for a couple years and warped so much I didn’t have any choice about what shape I could make, I just got them round again. The first is 9” x 2.25”. The second is 9” x 2.75”. Food safe finish.

Should of used that birch I gave you! Hand milled from the finest Birch trees in Alberta:)
I did all the trim and mouldings in our basement from local birch, staining it was fun, every so often a blotch would appear, usually a quick sanding with 220 and stain would take?
Think I like the one with the flat lip a bit more:)

Nice bowl. John. They should hold their shape now after 2 years drying.

Good looking bowls John. I have a piece with a lot of black in it. I should quite talking and round it out. Lol.

Thanks Lew, Jim, Brian. I’m saving your piece of Birch Andre, for what I don’t know yet. I’ll be waiting to see what you make Dave.
