A couple weeks ago pottz posted a project that included a couple lamps that I found pretty unique. That inspired me to make a lamp unlike what I’ve been doing. I wanted something different design wise and maybe have a modern appearance.
It’s pretty hard ( for me ) to make a wooden lamp look modern so it took me several failed prototypes before I came up with this model.
The shade is multi-colored resin and sassafras while the base is cherry with walnut dividers supported with copper tubing. I cleaned the copper with a scotch bright and sprayed them with clear polyeurathane. I used a pre-fab cord from Lamp parts that has a rocker switch built into the cord and the bulb itself is a
3.5amp led so this could be used as a night light or decorative window light.

Thanks for looking and comments and helpful tips are always welcome

Getting fancier, Dick. Steppin up game. Looks great. I particularly like the very top of the shade.

A quick glance at this and I see a boat with a sail coming towards me. Very much like your design Dick. That’s the way to keep projects interesting, keep changing things around.

Thanks Brian, the top on the lamp is a feeble attempt at turning. I wanted to extend the shade so I glued a block to it and shaped it

“comments and helpful tips are¬†always¬†welcome”,
Well as a comment I’d say nice work, those arches appear to be floating up off the shade, nice trick.
As for a tip, easy, Keep up the great work.

That is a really unique design Dick, I especially like the combination of wood and resin, to allow the light to come through.

Great job and keep pushing yourself with those ideas.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

@jim – Thanks for looking
@bushmaster – Thanks Brian but we all know you invented talent
@BobWemm – Thanks Bob, sanding time is thinking time – I gotta quit sanding
@pottz – I couldn’t get the image of your lamps to go away but I didn’t want to copy and I still wanted to break away from my norm, so the above is what happened
