I made these three boxes from scrap cutoffs that I get at the local hardwood store. 8/4 stock, 10 to 12 inches wide, usually of Oak, Maple, Ash and Cherry. I work around the imperfections, do a little resawing and hogging out of the centers, mortise and tenon practice, selecting contrasting woods, hand planing, add barrel hinges, mix dyes and finish. Fun little project.

Red: Cypress with Eastern Red Cedar.

Blue: Ash with Bird’s Eye Maple and Afromosia.

Yellow: Cypress with Walnut Plywood.

Nice design on all three. I like the blue best, not sure if its the color or the texture of the ash that appeals to me.
