Finally got a chuck! Big rain storm a month or so ago felled old alder trees on a friends acreage. Got to grab a few logs and cuts. A lot of it spalted. First time trying green turning and to quote a fellow BCer, (AVE) it’s got some “apprentice marks”
Finished with tung oil and oil based poly.
-- The garage is calling, I must go. The dog is Fred, and yes he’s well fed.

Hey BnC, you did all right with that Alder, it looks very punky in the one picture on the lathe. Did you get the Cole Jaws for your chuck?

I always liked wood with spalting in it no matter what species it is. Great job !!! Mel
