Large box collaboration with a local artist

I met an artist at a show.

He is working on a masters degree at SCAD and offered to commission a collaboration. A philosophical piece, large.

We built a six foot by six foot piece for his “proletariat playground” thesis…

with sliding dovetails:

and interlocked half-lap joints at the intersection:

then box jointed corners:

for the main picture, I placed my shop stereo, my Escher, and miter gauge in heaven.

The other is of it in his studio… with other pieces in the proletariat playground.

I like the joinery and the diagonal grain at the back. Interesting premise too.

Well that’s just an amazing piece. So beautifully done! You should be very very proud of that!

Beautiful build, nice crisp joints, seamless and tight. The story behind this project is pretty interesting, I’ve learned something new today. Thanks.
