Jewelry boxes for the Grand Daughters who range in age from 12 to 1.
Wood is Walnut, Jatoba, Ebony (drawer pulls), Ebony stained walnut, Ash (drawer boxes) and Baltic Birch ply
Joinery is sliding dovetail (sides to base), rabbets, dowels (end wing rails to stiles).
Wood drawer runners.
Finish is Natural Danish Oil with coats of General Finishes Satin Poly
All lettering is painted with Black Acrylic craft paint.
Lettering and design carved on the CNC. Drawer pulls and feet also cut on the CNC.
Secret drawer behind the bottom drawer and is accessible from the rear. Use a magnet to raise the back panel and pull out the drawer. I put a nice note in there for them to find some day, I hope.
Can you see the magnet in this pic? It blends into the flocking quite well. If not really looking, it probably will go unnoticed. I’ll tell the parents that if they have not found it by their 16th birthday, they should show them.
Thanks for looking … now onto the next three ..

Sweet and beautiful jewelry boxes.
Beautiful selection of wood and nice joinery.
The note in the hidden panel is priceless.
Well done.

I built a similar one of these quite a while ago and now have requests to make at least 2 more. Unfortunately I lost the set of plans that I used for the original. Can you tell me where you got the plans that you used? By the way you did a really nice job on yours.

Nice project. I really like the idea of a secret compartment with the special note.

Great work with great motivation. I wouldnt have thought to pair jatoba and walnut, looks pretty good in these boxes however.

These look great. They will remember you for these.
Of course the most costly part of them for you starts now – having to fill them ; ))

I really like the design. The pulls, the feet, the grain on the front. All great. The secret panel and drawer, awesome.
