My wife needed a compass. The result is is this beam compass.
I downloaded a 1:1 scale (pic 3) to measure the radius and a 1:2 scale Pic (4) to measure the diameter and stuck them to the beam. My wife will seal them with modge podge against wear and tear. The max diameter circle that can be drawn is about 900mm.
I made a piston clamp for the sliding block from some rosewood blocks from the scrap bin. I tapped a hole for the screw with a dowel piston. On top of the dowel piston there is a washer to protect the dowel from the screw.
I glued an extra layer onto the sides to strenghen against the clamping action
