Finally got my miter saw station finished. Got the plans from “Building Woodshop Workstations” by Danny Proulx. I’ve built five of the plans from his book, so I think I got my money’s worth. I had to modify all of the plans to suit the dimensions of the materials available in my area, but generally very helpful. Now I’ve got to figure out some sort of effective dust control. I’ve got it sitting right next to our furnace and last fall when we had the furnace guy in to get the furnace ready for winter he groused at me for the sawdust he found in it. Any suggestions on dust control that works for you would be appreciated. Thanks for looking.

If you’re not too attached to having the drawer underneath, you might consider converting that area into a downdraft table for the saw to sit on; whatever you use for the top end (large hood, hose attached to dust bag connector on saw), if you have a dust collector system and you use the area where the drawer sits with some built in ramps tapering higher in the front to the bottom in the back, with the ramps also tapering from the edges towards the middle, you can then drill out a port right in the middle of the back of the ramp convergence for a 4” connector for you D/C system; perhaps even have a wye set up with one connection to the bottom and the other tapered to connect to either a hood or a hose. Good luck.

Have your say...
