Found a piece of Spalted Elm squirreled away in the back of the barn. It came out looking a whole lot better than I had imagined. Guess I should have said “I planned it that way”.

Sharp looking box! A shade less ornate than your other work, fine work nonetheless.

Yeah, that’s outstanding. That pillowed top is really eye catching. A lot of great techniques I might borrow.

Gotta love that grain wrap. It’s not the wildest spalt, but that flowing grain is awesome going around thise rounded corners.

What finish did you use? Popped a plenty, but not overly shiny by the looks of it.

Elegance through simplicity 8^) This could easily fit into most any decor and would look like it had always been there.

Thanks for the nice compliment. As for the finish, I popped the grain with BLO, then 2 coats of shellac to seal the BLO and then multiple coats of lacquer. I use a semi-gloss lacquer so as not to have the shiny look. Some prefer it, but I would rather have the attention on the grain pattern.
