Recently completed a Jon Peters inspired bookcase for my wife. The case is built using birch plywood and trimmed in poplar. The top is a piece of Cedar coated in 4 coats of Waterlox Tung oil left over from doing the floors in our house. The front edge is left as live edge, the other three sides of top are 3/8” round over. The top will hopefully lose some of its sheen over time like the floors did. I’m pretty happy with it, definitely a learning experience. Finishing has never been my strong suit.

Nice book case. Waterlux is a nice finish.
