Here is a cane made with Ambrosia Maple, Gold Leaf and the skull is Black and White Ebony. For some reason the photos look fine on my computer until posted then they lose color, oh well.

A definite signature carving there Roger.
You get to work some fantastic wood, and produce amazing results.

Your posts are always something to look forward to seeing.
Details: I would be most interested in your gold leafing method please.

Also on another matter: When you get a moment a short history of your background would be very well received by me in particular and no doubt other LJs when they read it too.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks Rob, the gold leafing couldn’t be easier you just use the special glue called adhesive size which is milky looking when applied and you wait until it becomes clear and tacky and lay the leaf on it. The only things that can be tricky is grabbing the leaf without tearing it, there are different ways you can google it but you can also try to move it by hand. But for the cane I just used an artist brush and brushed the size on in an oval shape and laid the leaf on and used a brush to tamp it down. When dried I just spray lacquered the whole cane minus the brass.
