Last year i built this is a coffee table i made for my daughter’s husband. He loves Legos and asked if i could build something for his latest piece. this table is made of maple which i dyed black and finished it with water based poly. It has a hinged top with splined miters, and all the legs are mortised. I inserted 1/4 inch thick tempered glass into the sides and top. The legs are polished stainless steel i bought from Lee Valley. This was a fun piece to build.

Greatest coffee table/display case EVER!
Well done.

That is super looking. I can see it being used to display lots of family heirlooms down the road.

That is an awesome design and build of the table. Nothing against StarWars/Lego but I do find it backwards that a piece of furniture you obviously spent a long time on is showcasing something built from a kit and assembled in a few hours. Just a funny juxtaposition.

I’m not a fan of Legos either but that model has over 8000 pieces and took him almost 2 weeks to build.
I was just happy he asked because i wanted to do another project and was having a hard time thinking about what i wanted to do next. i’m glad you liked it!

SUPER-nice table—this one is going in my “inspirations” folder!

And it matches the dog very nicely. :-)

Thanks, as for the dog, I didn’t realize he was there!

Excellent work on the display case with the design. I looked at that Millennium Falcon for my grandson but I didn’t think he was ready for it yet. I’ll wait another year or two. This is a great idea to display it if he ever gets it.

Wow that is close. If I knew that I would of grabbed my grandson and go see it in person. Naaaa, then he may get ideas he’s getting it soon. LOL.
