First off, sorry for the direction of the photo – it’s a tall project not prone to a landscape layout. Anyway…Two days ago, I had a shopvac filled with fine dust from my power tools and I knew I needed to change things around. So…

Step 1: Make a dust separator with a Thien baffle and use a HEPA filter on the shop vac. Testing showed greate results. I might spray paint the blue and white bucket a gray neutral color.

Step 2: Make an ultimate dust collection cart for my garage shop – where everything gets rolled away to fit the wife’s car inside. I wanted a mobile cart that also took care of my box-fan filtration. As it stood, the fan would often fall over when running on high so I was always propping it up with something and often not even using it – I do use a dust mask. I also used a new method of assembly which was dowel rods and glue for everything – I usually used pocket screws for my other mobile carts. It’s definitely simple in design but I love having the fan there so I a) don’t forget to use it and b) don’t have to worry about it falling over and c) one less thing sitting on the garage floor.

I used a dowel on a block of wood to hold the fan and filter in place.

I’m in the same boat… kind of. Built a prototype baffle, got to busy to build another, pulled it off a bucket and put it on a trash can, but the trash can collapses (now “temporarily” supported) and planer shavings choked up the baffle.

Really thinking I’m going to make a good full size baffle with a HF blower when I find the time.

I considered going the HF route as well and would suggest the 2HP if you can get it. For me, it came down to room in my garage and extra $$$$. :)

First I’ve seen with the air scrubber added on – glad I didn’t start my dust collection cart yet. Thanks for posting.
