I’ve been inspired by the works of JRR Tolkien since I was a kid and have long wanted to make a custom bookcase with a Lord of the Rings inspired feel. I did a lot of experimenting with this build, especially with the LED lighting and the “Doors of Durin” cabinet. It features a ton of references from the LOTR – including the writings found on the one ring in a ribbon that winds through the case – made with epoxy filled letters and led lighting from behind. Lots of other symbols from important characters or peoples of middle Earth, but I can only show 6 photos! Hope you find it of interest…..still waiting on cushion for the window seat.

I love it! Really creative and unique. Looks like you’ve read a book or two on WWII also, eh?

THanks Fiver! Yes, Tolkien, Woodworking and History/WW2 make up most of the books

Great job, really cool idea and masterful build. The only thing missing is a stained glass eye of Sauron in that arched window. :-)

Thanks for sharing.

Looks like there will plenty of room for all the Baggins clan (tooks thrown in) on that bench…lol. See lots of creative projects on here but this has got to make the top five. The thought and planning that went into this project is top notch. awesome job.
