Old project, new finish

I built this table from a kit in the early 80’s, It was my first woodworking project. The top was scuffed during the move last year so I stripped the old finish (today’s paint removers suck) and refinished it – for the second time in 40 years!

Strange, but I keep noticing things around the house that I built so many years ago that I don’t seem to recognize that they were early woodworking projects. There’s also a little Queen Anne lowboy that we use as a night stand, will get some photos and post.

That is indeed beautiful! I don’t quite understand the hinged wings on the top… what is the reason for them?
