Bottle storage crates

These crates were built to support my home brewing hobby. I wanted a durable storage for my bottles that would protect my brew. The boxes are solid to keep out any light and the lids allow them to securely stack on one another.

The ends are made from one piece of 3/4” pine with 1/8” plywood for the bottom and sides. Pieces are secured with nails and a 1/2” stainless steel strap. The style of construction is similar to vintage soda crates.

The lids are made from the same 1/8” plywood let into a groove in the frame.

edit Pictures are not cooperating with me. I’m sorry they are not oriented correctly.

Cool idea. I used milk crates and cardboard for mine. Stackable and light. But yours are much better looking. I got a few kegs and haven’t bottled since, but my crates of bottles are still there just in case.

Nice work!
I’m still using standard cardboard beer cases and someday would like to make something “nicer”. Kegswould be a winner if I had the fridge space.

Have your say...
