Charcuterie board and Cutting board

My friend who got me in to to my Grilla Grill (even though he has a Yoder) wanted a big ass cutting board for briskets and stuff. Originally, this board was going to be 18×24x1.75, but I had a blowout while routing the juice groove thanks to a knot. after cutting out the groove, the board is now 15”x21”x1.75”. The board is Walnut, Cherry, Padauk and Hickory. The bottoms are chamfered to help move it and there are rubber feet.

For the charcuterie board, I had a slab of maple burl with some curl and spalting starting in it. The bottom of it is a live edge, so I had to flatten it some and then I put in a sapele leg. This board was rough cut and then shaped with a shinto rasp. Some more blending was doing with various sanders.

Both units were overall flattenend using my drum sander. The cutting board has just a Howards Feed and Wax finish while that charcuterie board has 3 coats of Waterlox to darken it up a little, then a light sanding at 400 grit followed by a Howards finish like the cutting board.

They go up to VA with me tomorrow for delivery… Hope he likes them

Good looking cutting board, but the charcuterie board really caught my eye. Between the burl and spalting it really stands out. The irregular “live edge” bottom is also a feature that caught my eye. The shape and wood selection are very organic which is perfect for a meat and cheese board.

If he doesn’t like it, I’m sure you could use them for a swap and have a happy recipient. (hint hint – I’m doing some advertising for the Spring Swap).
