My daughter Sophia has once again turned to the Lathe to this year to make some gifts for her friends and a teacher. We are already planning on starting on her end of the year gifts for the rest of her teachers as she will be moving to a new school next year she owes a few people some of her handy work.

This year she made a PS 2mm pencil for her close friends and an Atlas pen from WC for her teacher. All were very well received. As I have in the past I strongly encourage working with your kids (or grandkids) in the shop and getting them involved. For those that do not know Sophia has been working on the Lathe for almost 10 years now. I am very happy with the progress she has made and the confidence that she has built up over the years.

Here is her first project href="">Click for details at home on the Lathe.

that is so great,i love to see kids doing something not internet or video game related, since most schools no longer have shop classes it’s hard for kids to get exposure to things like woodworker, metal working,or auto.hopefully she will carry on the rest of her life with this craft.tell her she does some very nice work.

I agree with Pottz,
You got her hooked so I imagine there will be great collaborations between you two.
She has ten more years experience than I do.
Great work Sophia!
you too Dad.

That is a great thing to see your child wanting to share time with you in the shop. She had a xmas deadline like the rest of us. Nice work.
