Sugar maple from my property nicely spalted. Wondered if the finger joints would hold; some breakage but all in all it has character.

Interesting and unusual way to do the wrap-around with the fingerjoints sequence. Dont think I have seen that before. And the character of both woods is beautiful.

Back to the box. That spalt plays nicely with the Walnut, great contrast. I call letting the defects go, embracing the imperfections, and don’t think you can improve on Mother Natures plan.
