Good things rolling my way

French-style rolling pins and display stand. The top one is maple with a Celtic knot made with strips of cherry, the next is a segmented maple and cherry twist, and the bottom four are solid maple with interesting grain patterns. The curly maple is almost iridescent. It’s just a shame I’m trying to go gluten free. Boy, a good pumpkin pie would be fantastic right about now. I’m doing my first showing on Saturday and needed a display stand for my rolling pins to accompany my bowls.

Thanks Lew! I had to make a special jig to fasten to my sled to make the cuts. I did learn the hard way on another pin not to rush the glue up process.

Beautiful rolling pins Mike. You must charge different amounts for them. The Knot looks like the most work.

Thanks John. You’re right about how much work the Celtic Knot was. I learned the hard way how very important the thickness of the inserts need to be spot on. Too thin and you end up with a thick glue line between the boards. Too thick and the glue joint has a tendency to fail. I had to build a dedicated sled for my planer since I don’t have a drum sander (yet).
